multimodal interaction
interacting with a computer using more than one input or output channel at a time, usually suggesting drastically different input channels being used simultaneously, such as voice input combined with a mouse. The simplest, most common form of multimodal interaction with a computer is the simultaneous use of a mouse and keyboard. Driving a car is also an example where foot pedals are combined with a steering wheel and other knobs, levers, and buttons as input, while output is through windows, mirrors, warning lights, sounds, and the tactile feel of the road.
