Web applications come in all shapes and sizes.  While there is plenty of overlap between websites and web applications, one of the hallmarks of a web application is the presence of forms through which information can be submitted to a database.

A web application’s forms could be used for nearly anything, including:

  • Collecting User Generated Content (UGC) for a community or social media application
  • Submitting payment information when purchasing a product
  • Entering business-specific data in an ERP system
  • Uploading digital documents or media files
  • Entering customer contact information
