Description
Thomson Reuters is looking to hire an enthusiastic Senior Interaction Designer to create engaging and attractive interaction designs and user interfaces. We are looking for a passionate designer to help us create products that will allow our customers to understand and manipulate large amounts of complex information. We are looking for someone who is not only technically competent, but also has a great aesthetic design sense and enjoys having fun working with a team on exciting projects. This position reports to the User Experience Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Create interaction models and user interface mock-ups ranging from paper-and-pencil concepts to high-fidelity prototypes
- Effectively communicate designs to developers, testers, and senior management
- Mentor junior-level interaction designers and information architects
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience designing usable, consumer-oriented interfaces
- Comprehensive understanding of principles of interaction design, user interface design, and information architecture
- Broad understanding of web technology and desktop software norms
- Knowledge of fundamental design principles that affect typography, color use, animation, composition, use of space, distribution of information, etc.
- Ability to create iterative prototypes rapidly
- Demonstrated ability to document interaction designs in a variety of methods
- A desire to experiment with new interactions and designs
- Ability to understand and communicate complex system and design concepts quickly
- Excellent presentation, writing, and verbal skills
- Ability to negotiate, build consensus, and justify decisions
- Understanding of CSS, HTML, XML, Javascript, and core design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
Preferred education and experience:
- Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Human Factors, Industrial Design or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience designing or developing rich internet applications
- Experience prototyping with Ruby on Rails, Flash, Silverlight, or similar technologies
- Experience with agile development
