Professor of Industrial Design

Position summary

SCAD Savannah seeks candidates for a full-time senior-level faculty position in Industrial Design and Service Design to strengthen its investment in an energetic, robust and growing industrial design program.

Description

The SCAD Industrial Design program is successful, in large part, because of the value and emphasis it places on collaborative partnerships. Teaching in this context means working on live, immediate and highly relevant design problems.

Qualifications and requirements

The ideal candidate for this need will be driven to develop cutting-edge content and to establish a leadership role in the field. The successful candidate will possess classic industrial design competency as well as the ability to contribute to a progressive platform of programs that includes Service Design, Interaction Design, Design Management and Design for Sustainability.

The position requires a minimum of five years documented design experience developing innovative concepts and experiences at a senior level; the ability to work across a range of digital media from 2-D to 3-D; a thorough understanding of research and design methods; creativity and flair; strong project management skills; excellent communication skills; and a passion for inspiring and teaching.

Qualified candidates will have the terminal degree or its equivalent in industrial design, or a related field. College-level teaching experience preferred.

Education: MFA or equivalent in Industrial Design, or related field.
