Usability Glossary: PERT chart

(Program Evaluation and Review Technique) a type of flowchart used in project management, where each task is represented by a node and connected to other tasks with arrows to indicate task dependencies. Each node may be labeled with necessary resources for the task and start and finish dates. Nodes are usually laid out chronologically from left to right, with tasks done in parallel drawn one above the other. PERT charts were developed by the US Navy in the 1950s.
